 Laughter Yoga Therapy by Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet throws light on Stress Management, observing World Kidney Day

Chennai, March 16th, 2024  –Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet  organized   a   Laughter Yoga Therapy session today, in commemoration of World Kidney Day observed on 14th March. The event aimed at increasing awareness on  stress  management and  how  stress can  be  a risk  factor  for Kidney Disease. The event had participation from people who were eager to learn about the benefits of laughter therapy on overall wellbeing.

Led by the Founder & President Laughter Yoga Chennai International, Mr Manohar Bokdia, the session  proved to be an enlightening and rejuvenating experience  for all  participants. Laughter therapy, known  for its efficacy in reducing stress and mitigating the risk of hypertension, received widespread acclaim from those in attendance.






Diabetes   and   hypertension   are   major   risk   factors   for   Chronic   Kidney   Disease.   In   India, approximately 20-30% of diabetic patients develop CKD, and about 30-40% of CKD cases are due to hypertension. Engaging in regular physical activity, eating a balanced diet, and getting enough sleep   can   help   reduce   stress   levels   and   improve   overall   health.   Mindfulness   and   Relaxation Techniques: Practices like yoga, meditation, and deep breathing can help calm the mind and reduce  stress.

 Dr. Iyappan Ponnuswamy,  Medical Director and Chief Radiologist Kauvery Hospital Chennai along with  Dr. R. Balasubramaniyam, Chief Nephrologist, Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet and  Dr. Balaji Kirushnan, Nephrologist Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet actively engaged with participants, to promote holistic well-being and kidney health awareness.
